Our Impact

inspiring action through storytelling

Since its release in 2012, Chasing Ice has screened around the world in over 172 countries, more than 70 universities, over 75 film festivals. Screenings even include the White House and the United Nations.

Creating a film is only half the process. Our team believes it is of equal responsibility to share the film as publicly and to as many diverse audiences as possible and we made it our goal to do so.

In 2016, Chasing Ice was honored to receive the Doc Impact Award, which celebrates films that have made the greatest impact on society. Other honorees included: CitizenFour, Food Chains, Miners Shot Down, and Virunga.

Chasing ICe: the Ohio Tour

In Spring of 2014, we launched Chasing Ice: The Ohio Tour with the goal to use the film to shift the political conversation around climate change. The Tour went on to serve as a case study for the level of impact a film can have to create change in our political system and inspired our approach with our next two film’s respective impact campaigns: Chasing Coral and The Social Dilemma.

Chasing Ice: The Ohio Tour focused on one Congressional district, represented by Congressman Pat Tiberi (OH-12), who had been listed as a climate change denier. During the tour, nearly 10,000 people saw Chasing Ice for free. Screenings were followed by an interactive Q&A discussion led by Director/Producer, Jeff Orlowski, and other members of the Chasing Ice impact team, with the hope to connect the dots between changes we are seeing worldwide and the impact that these changes are having on central Ohio.

Through partnership with National Geographic and access provided by Ohio State’s Byrd Polar Research Center, faith-based organizations such as Catholic Climate Covenant, Ohio Interfaith Power and Light, Evangelical Environmental Network, as well as over 60 local organizations and 12 national organizations, we collaborated to engage the Congressman directly . Hundreds of constituents in the district reached out in support.

In response, Congressman Tiberi shifted his stance on the issue, publicly revising his position on climate change.
